Aam Panna is a refreshing Indian summer drink made from raw green mangoes, sugar, and aromatic spices. Known for its sweet, tangy, and slightly spicy flavor, it is traditionally enjoyed during hot weather and is believed to help prevent dehydration and heat exhaustion. Served chilled, Aam Panna is a perfect balance of fruity freshness and zesty spices.
Ingredients
a) 2 large raw green mangoes
b) 4–5 tbsp sugar or jaggery (adjust to taste)
c) ½ tsp roasted cumin powder
d) ¼ tsp black salt
e) A pinch of regular salt
f) 8–10 fresh mint leaves (optional)
g) 3–4 cups cold water
h) Ice cubes for serving
How To Make
Step-by-Step
1: Cook the Mangoes
Wash the raw mangoes thoroughly.
Boil them in water for 15–20 minutes until soft, or pressure cook for 2–3 whistles.
Allow them to cool completely.
2: Prepare the Pulp
Peel the cooked mangoes.
Remove the seeds and scoop out the pulp.
Blend the pulp into a smooth puree.
3: Make the Concentrate
Add sugar or jaggery to the mango puree.
Mix in roasted cumin powder, black salt, regular salt, and mint leaves.
Blend or stir until everything is well combined.
4: Prepare the Drink
Add 2–3 tablespoons of the mango concentrate to a glass.
Pour in cold water and stir well.
Adjust sweetness and seasoning according to taste.
How to Serve.
a) Serve chilled over ice cubes.
b) Garnish with fresh mint leaves and a sprinkle of roasted cumin powder.
c) Pair with Indian snacks such as samosas, pakoras, or chaat.
d) Store the concentrate in the refrigerator for up to one week and dilute as needed.
